Made from iron rich Japanese stoneware clay. This cup was made using Kurinuki, a Japanese ceramic technique where a single block of clay is hollowed by carving. Please note this piece is unglazed on the inside, however the clay has been smoothed and is water tight and food safe.
This cup was hand carved in Sasayama, Japan during a group tour in 2025. This piece was fired in John Dixs Anagama for over 60 hours. Wood is fed into the kiln every five to ten minutes to keep the temperature inside climbing. The ash from the burning wood flies through the kiln, landing on pieces to create beautiful and unique colours. This process makes each piece individual and irreplaceable.
Dishwasher safe however, hand washing is recommended. Approx. 7cm H x 10cm W.
