This lidded tea cup is made from buff, textured Japanese stoneware clay with wood ash on one side and a Shino glaze inside.
Wheel thrown then hand carved to finish this Yunomi is ideal for loose leaf tea.
This piece was crafted in Onishi, Japan during a six-week Artist Residency. The culmination of the residency was an Anagama firing that lasted over 80 hours. Wood is fed into the kiln every ten minutes to keep the temperature inside climbing. The ash from the burning wood flies through the kiln, landing on pieces to create beautiful and unique colours. This process makes each piece individual and irreplaceable.
Dishwasher safe however, hand washing is recommended. Approx. 7cm H x 8cm W.
