Made from Iron rich textured Japanese stoneware clay with a Shino glaze inside and natural ash on the outside.
This vase was wheel thrown in Sasayama during my three months working in Japan. This piece was Anagama fired for over 60 hours. Wood is fed into the kiln every ten minutes to keep the temperature inside climbing. The ash from the burning wood flies through the kiln, landing on pieces to create beautiful and unique colours. This process makes each piece individual and irreplaceable.
There is a hairline crack at the top of this piece (highlighted in image 5) however it would not affect the functionality but has been priced down.
While these pieces can be used functionally they were intended for decorative purposes.
Dishwasher safe however, hand washing is recommended. Approx. 19cm H x 9.5cm W.
