Made from a speckled Australian stoneware clay with Koge (a Japanese firing technique) on one side.
This piece was fired in an Anagama wood kiln for 100 hours. Wood is fed into the kiln every ten minutes to keep the temperature inside climbing. The ash from the burning wood then flies through the kiln landing on pieces to create beautiful and unique colours. This makes each piece individual and irreplaceable.
Due to the extreme stress of a wood firing on pieces the lid has warped slightly creating a wavier shape. While these pieces can be used functionally they were intended for decorative purposes.
